David McKenney
President of Capital Markets
David McKenney serves as President of Capital Markets for Apple REIT Seven, Inc. as well as Apple REIT Six, Inc., Apple REIT Eight, Inc. and Apple REIT Nine, Inc. sister real estate investment trusts. Mr. McKenney also served as President of Capital Markets for Apple Hospitality Two, Inc. since its inception until May of 2007 when the company was sold to an affiliate of ING Clarion and Apple Hospitality Five, Inc. since its inception in 2002 until the company was sold to Inland American Real Estate Trust, Inc. in October of 2007. Mr. McKenney has been with Apple REIT Seven and its sister companies since their beginnings and during that time has overseen six public offerings of equity capital totaling more than $3.925 billion, an ongoing offering of $1 billion, a $425 million merger of two REITs, the sale of a REIT for $890 million and the sale of an additional REIT for $709 million. In addition, he oversees the Investor Services department of the company.
Mr. McKenney brings more than 25 years of real estate experience to Apple REIT Seven, including more than seven years with Cornerstone Realty Income Trust, Inc., a REIT that owned and operated apartment communities in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Texas. Prior to that time, he served as Chief Financial Officer for The Henry A. Long Company, a regional development firm located in Washington, D.C. and as a Controller at Bozzuto & Associates, a regional developer of apartments and condominiums in the Washington, D.C. area. Mr. McKenney also has five years of experience with Arthur Anderson & Company and is a Certified Public Accountant. Furthermore, he holds a Virginia Real Estate Sales License, and is a member of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts and the National Investor Relations Association.
Mr. McKenney holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Accounting and Management Information Systems from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. He and his wife reside in Richmond, Virginia with their three daughters.
